Wow! I did something today that I've been saying to myself I should do. "I should learn how to use my webcam and learn how to post videos"... Well because of a class I'm taking through Doug & Melanie Nelson and their Catch Fire University I HAD to learn how to use my webcam software!
I recorded the video and it is now uploading to our private Facebook group page! I will not share this one on YouTube, but will share future videos! (once I decide what to record) :)
One part I will share is the end of the video ... "I will be the type of person that keeps their word and finishes what they start. I will be committed, results orientated and coachable."
What is something that YOU need to do? What is holding you back from doing it?
The title pretty much sums it up! Sharing info on things that interest me: social media, reading, audiobooks, marketing, business, cooking, fashion, decorating, etc.

An Extra 4 Hours!
A class I was supposed to teach was postponed about 1.5 hours before it was supposed to start! Now that I have an extra 4 hours I am working on my social media updates (hence this blog post :)); and am going to a networking event hosted by the Marion and Cedar Rapids chambers. The social media and networking will help grow my own business. It is a gift of time that I was not expecting!
What would you do if you had 4 hours gifted to you?
Next time though - I may just go get a pedicure :)

Hot!
It's super hot days like today that I am so thankful I can work inside! And I'm happy that my husband has an air-conditioned office too. It's plenty warm out there and people need to take extra precautions with themselves and their pets.
Please, please, please do not leave any living thing in the vehicle! 99.9% chance when you come back, it will not be living! Make sure to drink plenty of water and have lots of fresh water available for you animals too.
Our dog, Hildie, and our cat, Luna are hanging out in the air-conditioned house today, and I'm going from one air-conditioned place to another :)
Have a safe hot weather season!

Time Flies!
Wow - I can't believe it's July 14 already! I'm 44 days late on starting my Christmas shopping (yes, really!) I do have ideas though :)
Just yesterday it was January 1 and I had a ton of plans for this year...and it seems that hardly any of them have been accomplished :(
A busy schedule would be to blame for a lot of people, however I have found that the more I have to accomplish, the more I get done. I think that comes from being in the publishing business for 10 years and having weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual deadlines - sometimes all at the same time!
I currently have 3 income producing activities that I am doing (2 are small businesses and 1 is as a part-time employee). Starting tomorrow I'm adding a 4th, commission-based income producing activity - which will actually dovetail nicely with one of the small businesses. And I'm thinking of adding a 5th...more about that later!
One question that seems to motivate me is "If not now, when?"
What is your motivator? Share with me!

You Have No Mail!
Sorry, you have no messages! Do you know how nice that is actually to see? Some say I may have cheated on getting my inbox cleaned out ... as I took advantage of Gmail's search function and archived my entire inbox! First though, I answered all messages from the last three days that needed answered, filed the ones that didn't, created filters for the ones I want to read when I have extra time (so they never sit in my inbox!!), and unsubscribed to those items I just don't care to see!
Once in a while I get on a cleaning kick - and I personally find it much more "fun" to clean up my "electronic" files...now I just need to get to those filing cabinets! (the non-virtual ones, sitting behind me :)-)
As you have slower days during summer and find it hard to do "actual" work, take a few moments to create folders and filters on your email. You'll be happy with the quality of emails that end up in your inbox - those ones you actually need/want to receive and you will free up time to go do something fun!

Developing Relationships
Moving to a new place can be fun or scary depending on your frame of mind! Today I met a lady who has the right attitude...she said she knows she's only going to be here for a year because of her husband's job, but she has decided she wants to get out and meet as many people as possible!
An audio book that I'm listening too dovetails perfectly with what she is doing. "It's Not Just Who You Know," by Tommy Spaulding takes "How To Win Friends & Influence People," to the next level ... or five!
Tommy writes about how he meets people and how he develops them into friends. This book is another good one for everyone to listen/read whether they are a stay-at-home mom, retail sales associate, mid-level manager or CFO. Tommy's personal stories make this an easy read. For more information check out your local library or visit www.tommyspaulding.com
May your horse be swift, your laughter infectious, your smile sincere.

Drive
I just finished listening to an audio book titled "Drive" by Daniel Pink. Fittingly enough I listened while I drove around in my car...
This audio book is a must read/listen book for anyone who works for, runs or owns a business. Pretty much everyone!
The traditional business I owned was a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. More of the intrinsic motivation came from me (even though at that time I had know idea that was even a word!). My business partner was definitely more extrinsically motivated. I think the 30 years difference in age probably accounted for most of that!
"Drive" explains the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic and also talks about "carrots and sticks" motivation. I really like what Pink has to say about motivation and you can apply it to anything - from cleaning the house to growing a family to running a business.
I also really liked the ROWE (Results Oriented Work Environment) concept. If I own another traditional business in the future, I would really like to use the ROWE concept. Until that point, I will just focus on my internet franchise and figure out my ROWE and intrinsic motivations.
All in all, you should read/listen to this book!
Up next: "How To Become a Million Dollar Earner" by Frank Keefer and an audiobook "It's Not Just Who You Know" by Tommy Spaulding.
May your horse be swift, your laughter infectious, your smile sincere!

stirfry!
My first post....you would think I would put some thought into that, but what is the point? Tonight I am making stir fry for supper. Just open up the fridge, pull out fresh veggies, meat and spices - voila! Stirfry...all inspired by a lonely onion in the pantry.
You know what? Life can be like stir fry! Throw together a group of people, add the spices of life and presto you have new friends! Now how do you go about making these friends lifelong relationships? Well that takes nurturing and correspondence and time. A good book to read on that would be Keith Ferrazzi's "Never Eat Alone." I just finished his book tonight. I learned quite a bit and had even more lessons learned early, reinforced by his teachings.
Now that I have managed to talk about food, friends and reading in one post, you might have a taste of what my thoughts, musings and reviews might be like.
